Linda L. York

January 17, 1949 — January 25, 2020

Linda L. York, 71, of Robinson, IL, joined her beloved husband in eternity on January 25, 2020, at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson. She was born on January 17, 1949, in Robinson, the daughter of Max & Helen (Servison) Nash, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Dennis Allen York on September 10, 1966, and he preceded her in death on November 21, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Christine Nash, Robert "Bob" Nash, Rick Nash, and Maxine Tracey; and by her brother-in-law, Theo York. She is survived by her children, Allen & Linda York (Robinson, IL), Sherry Collins (Robinson, IL) and Bobbi Christine & Monty Christine (Robinson, IL); by her grandchildren, Tiffany & Jeremy Snider, Megan Collins, Johnna York, Maycee Collins, Connor York & Jacob Gilbert, Camron Christine, and Nikomi Christine; by her great-grandchildren, Alayna Snider, Wyatt Snider, Deegan Childress, and Asher Christine; by her siblings & spouses, Roger & Vickie Nash (ME) and Rose Nash (AZ); by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ronnie & Kaye Sullivan, Gary & Kim York, Rip & Penny York, Terry York, Orville & Diane York, Sarah York, and Larry & Debbie York; by her special friend and caregiver, Vickie Hyatt; as well as several nieces and nephews. Memories of Linda are likely to be filled with images of her wonderful smile. Though she bravely battled poor health throughout her life, her laugh and kind demeanor served as a constant reminder that life is what you make it; and Linda's life was one of purposeful servitude. She rarely thought of herself, as evidenced by her taking on the role of caretaker for numerous people throughout her 71 years. Though she also worked for L.S. Heath, Ettelbrick Shoe Factory, Crawford County Electronics, and Robinson Transformer, caring for others was her true calling in life, which is why she opened her home as a daycare for many years. She also cared for a number of beloved pets over the years, namely her kitty, Georgia. Early in her life, much of her free time was spent outdoors, having spent countless hours camping and fishing. She was also a lifetime member with the V.F.W. #459 Women's Auxiliary. As the years went by and her health started to fade, she found great joy in playing Bingo and working on her word-search puzzles. Though she enjoyed these things, nothing brought her more fulfillment than simply spending time with those she loved. Her kids and grandkids were the light of her life, and they will remember their mom and granny as a loving, compassionate soul who made the world around her a better place. Her memory will forever serve as a picture of how to live with strength and joy in the face of adversity. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will immediately follow and will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A procession will leave the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 30th, headed for Oak Grove Cemetery, where committal services will be held. Memorials may be made to the “NOW Program”, a program that sends supplemental food home on weekends with a number of students in the Robinson School District. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
