Linda Fann

May 25, 1952 — August 22, 2020

Linda Fann, 68, of Palestine, IL, died August 22, 2020, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, IN. She was born on May 25, 1952, in Paris, IL, the daughter of Robert Fann & Iva Maxine (Moore) Fann-Jones, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sons, Justin Gaines and Steven Mattix; by her significant other, Michael Allen; as well as several aunts and uncles. She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Katrina & Aaron Fulling (Palestine, IL); by her daughter-in-law, Loretta Gaines (Shawnee, OK); by her grandchildren, Alex Fulling & fiancé Blake Binder, Dannika Fulling, and Daidra & Nic Hendershot; by her "honorary great-grandchildren", Caylin and Holden; by her sister & brother-in-law, Georgia & James Few (Paris, IL); by her brother, Robert Fann (AZ); by her close friend, Ellen Hutchinson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Linda grew up in the Elkhart, IN and Paris, IL areas and worked as a CNA for a time, before health issues forced her out of the workplace. Time at home often found her crocheting blankets and trinkets for her loved ones, that is, when she wasn't reading a mystery or romance novel. She anticipated the holiday season with glee, as it was then that her beloved Hallmark Christmas movies were available to binge-watch, which she would enjoy alongside her beloved "fur baby", Buttercup. She also enjoyed getting out of the house, too. Anyone who had the opportunity to fish alongside Linda could attest to her prowess with a fishing pole, as she would regularly reel one in on her very first cast! It could have been that she was simply lucky, further evidenced by her good fortune at the slot machines. In getting to know her, it never took long to recognize that Linda had a sense of humor all her own! She loved to make others laugh. In fact, it could be said that her heart beat for others. She routinely went out of her way to help those in need, without second thought of herself. May we all take a page out of her book and learn to live with that same joy and selflessness that marked Linda Fann's 68 years. A time of gathering for Linda's friends and family will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. PLEASE NOTE THAT, DUE TO COVID-19 MANDATES PASSED BY THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, SOCIAL DISTANCING MEASURES WILL BE IN PLACE, AND IT WILL BE REQUIRED THAT ALL ATTENDEES WEAR FACE COVERINGS. Memorial contributions may be made to the "Palestine Community Food Pantry", with envelopes available at the funeral home.
