Lilburn Eugene Wilson, Jr

Lilburn Eugene Wilson, Jr. passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on January 9, 2019. Gene, as he was known to all, was born on January 29, 1947 in Indianapolis, IN to parents Lilburn Eugene “Chink” Wilson, Sr. & Sarah Wilma (Weger) Wilson, both of whom preceded him in death. Gene is survived by his children Noel (Chris) Pentell of Bridgeport, IL, Shannon (Logan) Gehlhausen of Pinedale, WY, and Lilburn (Megan) Wilson, III of Robinson, IL, his grandchildren Dylan and Drayden Pentell, Maddox Gehlhausen, Lilburn IV and Sarah Wilson, brother Nolan (Nancy) Wilson and nephew Chad Wilson, all of Robinson, IL. Gene graduated from Robinson High School in 1965. He then attended Wabash Valley College, in Mt. Carmel, IL, where he earned an Associate of Science Degree before transferring to Murray State University in Kentucky. He served our country in the United States Army from 1968-1970, where he was stationed in Germany. He was in the Army Reserves until 1974 at which time he was granted an honorable discharge. He worked for Marathon Oil Company for 20 years before retiring. He worked construction both part-time and full-time throughout his life. His most-loved job was Maintenance for the Robinson CUSD #2. His face lit up when he talked about the kids and how they loved to joke with him. Gene was a great family man and a loving father. Gene and Carol Mullinax were married from 1966-1969 and had one child together. They later divorced. He then met Linda Davis and they married in 1970. They had two children together. Gene and Linda divorced in 2000, but family always came first. When the kids were growing up, the family would spend the weekends at the lake, boating, skiing and tent camping. He also enjoyed playing golf and poker with his friends and family. He was a hard worker who was always there when you needed him. It was Gene’s wish to be cremated. A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 19th. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Gene’s life. The family of Gene Wilson respectfully requests that donations in his memory be made to his memorial fund, with checks made payable to “Goodwine Funeral Homes”.
