Leo James Piersall, Sr.

Leo James Piersall, Sr., 86 of Robinson, IL, died at 2:33 a. m. Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at the Breckenridge Health and Rehab, Sullivan, IN. He was born September 2, 1925 in Merom, IN, the son of Paul L. Piersall and Ruth Willard Piersall. Leo served in the U. S. Navy during WWII in the South Pacific. He was a charter member and elder of the Crawford County Christian Center, Robinson. Leo was a member of the Iron Workers #112, and for 38 years was a member of the Indianapolis Steamfitters Local #440.Leo married Mabel Pauley on November 20, 1947 and she survives. He is also survived by his 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and John Sandberg, Shelburn, IN, Debra and Tom McGlothlen, Edelstein, IL; his 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Jolly Piersall, Brownsburg, IN, Ray and Janie Piersall, Hutsonville, IL; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul J. and Ileen Piersall, Carmel, IN, George W. and Lola Piersall, Robinson; 3 sisters and brothers-in-law, Nina M. and William Fenton, Crawfordsville, IN, Neva M. Mendenhall, Oblong, Beverly J. and Robert Bomer, Robinson; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Joseph Piersall; 3 brothers, John, Oscar and Claude Piersall; 1 sister, Dottie Chapman; 5 grandchildren, Suzanne Marie Canary, Stephanie M. Canary, Christopher E. Hulett, Isaac Piersall, Sha-Lene Allen; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 24th at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson with Pastor Don Williamson officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, rural Annapolis. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 23rd at the funeral home and from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Memorials may be made to the Crawford County Christian Center or to the Lawrence County Parkinson€™s Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.
