Lela Grace Parish, 92, of Palestine, IL, died at 1:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) on Sunday, September 11, 2011 in Vincennes. She was born November 11, 1918 in Vincennes, IN, the daughter of Jess Southers and Lila Mary Ridgely Southers. She worked in production at the sewing factory in Flat Rock, in a nursing home in Robinson, and was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church. Lela married Noble R. Parish on March 11, 1935 and he preceded her in death on February 1, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 2 sons, Jimmie Ray Parish and Jackie Joe Parish; 4 sisters; 1 brother; and her granddaughter, Anita Lynn.She is survived by 6 sons and daughters-in-law, Bobbie Lee Parish, Edwardsport, IN, Mitchell David Parish, Henderson, KY, George Thomas Parish, Dixon, KY, Noble Vernal and Susan Parish, Flat Rock, Cleman Leon Parish, Palestine, Chris Duane and Kim Parish, Flat Rock, IL; her daughter-in-law, Ruth Parish, Freelandville, IN; her sister, Jessie Kimmel, Indianapolis, IN; 24 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine with Rev. Jane Drake officiating. Burial will follow in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. on Thursday. Memorials may be made to Grace Methodist Church with envelopes available at the funeral home.
