Lawrence "Gas Can Paddy" Meierhoff

Lawrence “Gas Can Paddy” Meierhoff, 90, of Robinson, IL, died at 9:10 a.m. Sunday, October 28, 2007 at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson. He was born August 5, 1917, in Glenview, IL, the son of Erwin Meierhoff and Anna Alles Meierhoff.He served in the U. S. Army during WWII and then enlisted in the Coast Guard after his discharge from the Army. He drove a school bus in Northbrook, IL. He was a member of the Robinson First Baptist Church, Robinson American Legion Post #69, and Hobo Convention.He married Ann Daron June 2, 1947 and she preceded him in death on March 10, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, Erwin Meierhoff Jr; and 1 sister, Albertina Melzer.He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Gay Meierhoff, Morton Grove, IL; 3 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Alles Giles, Hollywood, FL; and several nieces and nephews.Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2007 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday following visitation at the funeral home with Rev. Jerry McDaniel officiating. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery, Robinson. Memorials may be made to the Crawford County Humane Society, Robinson with envelopes available at the funeral home.
