Larry Joe Baud, 77, of Robinson, IL, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2022, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 5, 1944, in Crawford County, the son of Albert & Dorothy (Crum) Baud. As a young man, he worked in the oilfield before finding employment as a janitor for Marathon, a position he held for many years.
Eventually, he joined Robinson Labor Local #1280 and was also employed at Ken's Auto, which was a natural fit, considering his love of automobiles. He was a staple at local car auctions and was known to spend hours under the hood in his garage. As he grew older, he made it a point to pass along this knowledge and passion to his grandsons. In fact, nothing brought more life to his living than simply spending time with his family and his furry companion, Tiny. Larry and his wife, Sandy, enjoyed the peace and tranquility of their country home as well as the thrill of taking off on an adventure on their motorcycle. His children were each the apple of their dad's eye, and they will forever remember him as a loving man who would go out of his way to help anyone in need.
Larry's selflessness of spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew him: his sons, Kenneth & Sue Baud, Keith Baud & Sherry Rankin, and Brian & Shelly Monk; his daughters, Kelly & Rick Bradberry, Kimberly & Chuck Walker, Kerri & Mike Rimmer, and Tracy & Chuck Ramsey; his 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; his children's mother, Connie Rich; his mother-in-law, Betty Pinnick; his sister-in-law, Joyce Kasinger; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert & Dorothy Baud; his beloved wife of nearly 30 years, Sandy Baud; his son, Terry Monk; his great-grandson, Lukas Bradberry; his brothers & sisters-in-law, Charles & Betsy Baud, Ray & Treva Baud, and Paul Baud; and his sister & brother-in-law, June & Howard Zellers.
His family would like to share a special "thank you" to Good Samaritan Hospice and to hospice nurse Ashton Young for providing such compassionate care for Larry in his final days.
