Larry G. Eveland

July 25, 1958 — May 27, 2020

Larry G. Eveland, 61, of Palestine, IL, died May 27, 2020, at Cotillion Ridge in Robinson, IL. He was born July 25, 1958, in Lawrenceville, IL, the son of Everett & Sandra (Collins) Eveland, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his four-legged "baby", Moe. He is survived by his daughter & fiancé, Ashley Eveland & Matthew Queen (Springville, IN); by his grandchildren, Clinten Daugherty, Jaden Keesling, McKinlee Queen; by his sister & brother-in-law, Tammy & Tom Herlocher (Palestine, IL); by his brother, Jim Eveland (Bruceville, IN); by his nephew and nieces, Thomas Herlocher, Jr., Amanda & Travis Horton, Danielle Steimel; as well as a host of beloved family and friends. Larry grew up in Palestine and was a 1978 graduate of PHS. Right away, he went to work for Lark Commercial Painting, and he continued to paint for many years and sprayed fields for F/S before getting on with Hershey, where he worked as a line operator for 21 years. It comes as no surprise to those who knew him that Larry was something of a thrill-seeker. Weekends often found him behind the wheel of his dirt-modified race car, racing at a number of Indiana dirt tracks. In between races, time at home meant time in the garage rebuilding his race car or working on other machines. Though he enjoyed times behind the wheel and under the hood, nothing brought more life to his living than making memories with his beloved family. They will remember Larry as one of the most hilarious, fun-loving men you could ever have the opportunity to meet. He was known to have a great time, but not at the expense of others; in fact, he radiated both kindness and joy wherever he went. Though poor health robbed him of many experiences in the twilight years of his life, he made countless memories throughout the years he was given; and for that, we are incredibly thankful. A private graveside service will be held at the Palestine Cemetery. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to his memorial fund, with checks made payable to “Goodwine Funeral Homes”.
