He was born March 26, 1948, in Robinson, IL, the son of Walter & Jetta (Knoblett) Clark, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Vickie Blakesley on January 29, 1967, and she survives. He is also survived by his children, Kellie & Larry Levitt (Hebron, IN) and Eugenia Clark (Robinson, IL); by his grandchildren, Kyle Levitt, Alison Stephen, Morgan Levitt, Emily Clark, Jaylynn Darnall, Kyndra Brown, and Landyn Darnall; by his great-grandchildren, Maddex, Kashton, and Lawton; by his brother & sister-in-law, Gary & Jane Clark (Flat Rock, IL); as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members. He grew up in Robinson until his dad was transferred to Homewood, IL during Larry's senior year. Upon graduating from Homewood Flossmoor High School in 1966, he answered his country's call, enlisting in the U.S. Air Force, with whom he served from 1967-1970. His time in the service found him in Taiwan during the Vietnam War. Back home, he became an operating engineer and joined IUOE Local #150, with whom he worked as a heavy equipment operator for 35 years before retiring in 2005. Never one to let dust settle, "retirement" found him delivering propane for Wabash Valley Heat and Gas part-time for a number of years before finally closing the curtain on his professional career. Away from work, Larry could often be found outside, either on his mower or with his beloved horse, Rosie. He had a particular fondness for animals, as further evidenced by the care he gave to his beloved dog, Cassie. Though he loved his four-legged friends, his family had his heart. He found great purpose in his calling to be the best husband, father, and grandfather he could be, and will be remembered for the energy he poured into each of these roles. Larry Clark was a kind and gentle man; a caring soul who would do anything for you if he could. That being said, he would have been the first to tell you that he wasn't perfect. He recognized that he needed a savior, which is why he could be seen in the pews of the Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church for many years. Because he put his trust in Jesus Christ, we have the assurance that he's not gone, just gone from our sight, in the presence of his Savior.
