Landon Tracy

March 16, 1999 — November 3, 2023

It is with heavy yet immensely proud hearts that we remember the life of Landon Tracy, who was tragically taken from us on November 3, 2023. Born on March 16, 1999, in Robinson, IL, Landon made his 24 years matter through his commitment to honest living, dedication to excellence, and devotion to his friends and family.

Landon is survived by his father, Rick, and his siblings, Erica & Greg Staley, Alisha Hatfield, and Derek & Katie Tracy. His nieces and nephews, Cierra, Madi, Bri, Lydia, Bentley, Charley, Brentlee, Keenan, and Olivia, will hold dear their fond memories of their uncle. He also leaves behind an extended family of several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Preceding him in death were his beloved mother, Faye (Brown) Tracy, and his grandparents.

Though his early years were spent crossing the country in his dad's semi, Robinson was always Landon's home. It was here that he developed a robust work ethic beginning at the tender age of nine when he picked up a newspaper route. At eleven, he also started mowing yards and scrimped and saved over the next few years to buy his first truck at the age of fifteen! When he wasn't busy running cross country for Robinson High School, he was putting in hours working at County Market. It was at this time that he took a heavy interest in his building trades class, which developed in him skills that would serve him well for the duration of his short but successful career.

Though he worked briefly for Consolidated Concrete following his 2017 graduation from RHS, he soon found his true calling as a carpenter and joined Carpenters' Local 243. His passion for scaffold work was ignited at the Marathon Refinery in Robinson, a job so fulfilling that it molded his career direction. Renowned for his excellent work and sheer dedication, he was a hardworking, admired professional whose passion was so evident that he was sent back to RHS to inspire the next generation of carpenters for a couple of the school's career days. His latest professional endeavor found him at the BP Refinery in Whiting, IN, where he did his part to build, maintain, and inspect the refinery's scaffolding.

Landon was not just a hard worker; he knew how to truly enjoy life. His thrill for adventure was evident in his ownership of not one but three motorcycles over the years, the latest being a Harley Davidson. He was also a proud owner of two trucks and a house - an impressive feat for a 24-year-old! In addition to his professional hunger, Landon had a substantial appetite for food and fun. He loved to explore new diners and dives and often took in the thrill of dirt track and NASCAR races, the fun of truck and tractor pulls, and the joy of country music concerts. He was also known to attend derbies and worked on derby cars alongside his buddies. They could each attest to the fact that Landon was a vivacious, hardworking, kind-hearted soul who was ever eager to see others happy. He will forever be remembered for his generosity of spirit and the infectious joy that seemed to pour out of him. Though we grieve that the life we remember was all too brief, we can also rejoice in knowing that Landon filled his 24 years with real and genuine living. Thanks for the memories!
