Harnett L. Wright, 99, of West Union, IL died at 5:55 p.m. on Monday, August 8, 2011 at the Burnsides Community Health Center, Marshall, IL. He was born July 18, 1912 in rural West Union, IL, the son of Albert W. Wright and Ruth Piety Wright. He was a farmer and a member of the West Union Christian Church, Gideons International, a member and Past Worshipful Master of the Ancient Free and Accepted Mason York Lodge #313, West Union, a member and past President of the Clark County Farm Bureau. He was very active in soil conservation, and received a plaque for 50 years of dedication. He served on the original Board of Directors of Camp Illiana, Washington, IN for 13 years and served on the Producers Board of Directors, Indianapolis.Harnett married Hazel Mae Scott on July 28, 1934 and she preceded him in death on September 26, 2010. He was also preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Kathryn Walter and Edith Letterman; 2 daughters, Barbara Anne Harmon and Rosalie Sanders.Harnett is survived by his two grandchildren, Todd and Cathy Harmon, Humble, TX and Jill and Francis €œNed€ Haskins, Pittsburg, CA; 4 great grandchildren, Jamie, Jennifer, Mark and Miranda; his nieces, Linda (Hal) Sloop, Kathryn (Larry) Morecraft, Susan (Dick) Tinder, Anne Rodgers, Beth (Raymond) Sternberg; his nephews, Jack (Phyllis) Strohm, Jerry (Barbara) Strohm, Scott (Diane) Strohm, and Robert (Ann) Lederman; and a host of friends.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 12th at the West Union Christian Church with Rev. Jim Freeman and Rev. Terry Henry officiating. Burial will be in the Harrison Cemetery, rural West Union. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 11th at the West Union Christian Church. Memorials may be made to the West Union Christian Church Parsonage Fund or to Gideons with envelopes available at the funeral home.
