Kristi Jean Mccleave

September 5, 1972 — July 2, 2022

Kristi Jean McCleave, 49, of Robinson, IL, passed away on July 2, 2022, at Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong, IL. She was born September 5, 1972, in Robinson, the daughter of Zel & Jeannie (Taylor) Adams, both of whom survive. She is also survived by her daughter, Katelyn McCleave; by her brother & sister-in-law, Jonathon & Sarah Adams; by her nephew, Aiden Fiore; by her special friend, David Ray and his son, Delos Ray; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Grant & Wanda Adams and Herman & Laura Taylor; by her aunt, Susie Wesley; and by her uncle, J.D. McKee.

Kristi grew up in the Robinson area and was involved in the local 4H, showing pigs throughout her youth. She would develop a love of literature that led her to work evenings at the Robinson Public Library during her high school years. Though she continued to work here following her graduation from Robinson High School in 1990, she eventually found employment at the Taylored Lady and Crawford Memorial Hospital. Most of her career, however, was spent at Bunker Hill Supply. It was evident that she took great pride in her work throughout her near-20-year tenure there.

Though her skillset served her well in a professional capacity, she was also very well-versed in the kitchen. In fact, those fortunate enough to enjoy her fried chicken could attest to the fact that it was head-and-shoulders above the colonel's recipe! They could also attest to her love of sports. She was an avid University of Illinois basketball fan and also followed Cardinals and Cubs baseball and Bears and Colts football for many years.

Much of her free time found Kristi working on crafts. She was known to frequent area craft shows but was especially enamored with the Covered Bridge Festival, which she would annually explore with her family. They will remember Kristi as a headstrong soul who lived life on her own terms. We are thankful that the kind, fun-loving spirit we remember doesn't just live on in our memories but has found eternal rest in the tender, loving arms of her Savior. A member of the Zion United Methodist Church, Kristi put her life in Jesus' hands years ago. Therefore, we find both comfort and assurance that, by the grace of God, we will meet again!

A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 7th, at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 8th, at the Zion United Methodist Church, with Pastor Kyle Bailey officiating. Burial will be in the Adams-Richart Cemetery.
