Kenneth Wayne Culter, 80, of Robinson, IL, died at 5:30 p.m.on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at St. Luke Community Healthcare in Ronan, MT. He was born July 6, 1938 in Lawrenceville, IL, the son of Oliver Culter & Lucille (Medlin) Culter, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Hannah Drake; and by his sister, Virginia Newell. He married Sandra Bellinger on February 11, 1958, and she survives. He is also survived by his son & daughter-in-law, Billy & Sherri Culter (St. Ignatius, MT); by his daughter & son-in-law, Debbie & Kenneth Drake (Robinson, IL); by his grandchildren, Carla & Tim Wilson (Bridgeport, IL), Christina & Jacob McDonald (Lawrenceville, IL), Sarah & Andrew Souder (Joplin, MO), and Daniel & Amy Drake (Robinson, IL); by his great-grandchildren, Haley Wilson, Taylor Wilson, Morgan Wilson, Katey Wilson, Alley Wilson, Julian McDonald, and Oryn Drake; by his brother & sister-in-law, Bobby & Diane Culter (Lawrenceville, IL); as well as several nieces and nephews. Kenneth was a 1956 graduate of Lawrenceville High School and went on to serve his country in the U.S. National Guard for over 10 years. He was a warehouse foreman for Benjamin’s Catalog Showroom in Bridgeport, IL for a number of years before getting on as a janitor at the Crawford County Courthouse, where he retired in 2003. Away from work, chances were, he could be found outdoors. He loved to fish, hunt, and camped all over the continental United States over the course of his life. Traveling was a great source of joy in his life, as was simply spending time with his grandkids. A man of faith, he was a longtime and active member of the Hebron Road Church of Christ before transferring his membership to the Pleasant Ridge Christian Church. We have peace in knowing his faith has been made sight, and that we will all meet again one day. A time of visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 23rd at the Pleasant Ridge Christian Church, in Pinkstaff, IL (the former location of Brookside Grade School). Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 24th at the church with burial following in the Jones Cemetery. Minister Aaron Shirley will be officiating the services. Memorials may be made to the Pinehaven Christian Children’s Ranch, a program near and dear to Kenneth’s heart. Its aim is to provide a stable, controlled, secure environment in which young people can reach the potential that God has placed within them. Memorial envelopes will be available at the church. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock is in charge of the arrangements.
