Kenneth “Spud” Inboden, 88, of Robinson, IL, died at 12:53 a.m. on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL. He was born September 26, 1930 in Salina, KS, the son of Fay Inboden & Mae (Seaney) Inboden, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Arlene (Jones) on December 20, 1980, and she preceded him in death on April 21, 1997. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Reba Inboden, and his siblings, Bill, Jack, Bob, Jerry, Joann and Norma Jean Inboden. Though Spud gave 44 years of dedicated service to L.S. Heath & Sons, Leaf, and eventually Hershey, much of his time outside of work revolved around baseball. His younger years were often spent glove-in-hand, and he was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Although his love of America’s pastime is well known, his love of peanut butter was nothing short of legendary! He was a longtime member of the New Hebron Baptist Church and was, by all accounts, a man who loved his Lord & Savior. There is peace in knowing that today, his faith has been made sight. Spud is survived by his children, David Inboden (Palestine, IL) and Sonja Shea (St. Peters, MO), by 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, by his brother, Dick Inboden (Robinson, IL), by his good friend & companion, Mayme Deatherage, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 14th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson with Pastor Lee Gurley officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the Robinson New Cemetery. There will be no time of visitation. Memorials may be made to the New Hebron Baptist Church, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
