Kelly Spade

Kelly Spade, 59, of Robinson, IL, passed away unexpectedly on December 12, 2021. He was born April 12, 1962, in Robinson, the son of Gary Snearley & Geneva Iva (Osborn) Spade-Tracy, both of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by his son & daughter-in-law, Drew & Whitney Spade (Robinson, IL); by his grandchildren, Allie, Colsten, and Alyssa Spade (all of Robinson, IL); by his dad, Rollie Spade (Lawrenceville, IL); by his brothers & sisters-in-law, Tony Spade (Robinson, IL), Joseph & Linda Spade (Bridgeport, IL), and Christopher & Beth Spade (Mount Carmel, IL); as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Kelly grew up in the Robinson area and was a 1980 graduate of Robinson High School. He would go on to find employment at Briggs Pottery, where he worked in multiple capacities until they closed their doors. At this point in his life, he decided to go back to school, earning an associate's degree from Lincoln Trail College and a bachelor's degree from Eastern Illinois University, all while working part-time at IGA and as a security guard in Evansville. In fact, while he was still working security, he would drive back to Robinson every weekend to work at the grocery, all so he could see his regulars! By all accounts, Kelly was a social creature who found life through relationships. He made many friends playing euchre, a game he played a couple of times a week, taking part in various leagues throughout the years. He also had golfing buddies who could attest to his love of the game, as Kelly enjoyed countless hours out on local golf courses. It was evident that the man loved the outdoors and looked for any opportunity to be out in God's creation. He knew the thrill of the hunt and that certain peace that comes with a fishing pole in hand. He was especially fond of mushroom hunting, to the point that his granddaughter referred to him as "the mushroom man"! A member of Highland Church of Christ, Kelly graciously and gladly served in numerous capacities. We are thankful that this good and faithful servant placed his life in Jesus' hands, and find peace knowing that, while Kelly is absent from the body, he is present with the Lord. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 23rd, at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Pastor Shane Bopp will officiate the service. Memorial contributions may be made to his memorial fund, with checks made payable to "Drew Spade". Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
