Kathy J. Lake

May 4, 1962 — February 11, 2022

Kathy Jo Lake, 59, of Robinson, IL, passed away on February 11, 2022, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL, due to COVID-19 complications. She was born May 4, 1962, in Robinson, IL, the daughter of Irvin & Florence "Flo" (Shutack) Henderson. She grew up in Robinson and was a 1980 graduate of Robinson High School. Though she helped her mother run the family restaurant (Flo's), Kathy dedicated her life to caring for others. When her father became unwell, it was Kathy who came and provided the care he needed in the twilight of his life. She would do the same for many of her family members over the last 30 years.

It was obvious that this dear soul had a huge heart, further evidenced by the many stray animals that made their home with her! Her house was also home to numerous flowers, as Kathy had quite the green thumb, sharing a particular affinity for roses like her mother before her! The two of them were like two peas in a pod and would make many trips to the casino together, where Kathy would often leave a winner! Even when playing scratch-offs, it seemed like she always won at least a little something. Though it was apparent that Lady Luck was on her side, it is really those of us who have known and loved Kathy who are the lucky ones.

She was a lifelong member of Saint Elizabeth Catholic Church.

Kathy married Alan Lake on April 10, 2002, and he survives. She is also survived by her step-children, Cory Lake (Flora, IL), Cole Lake (Salem, IL), and Shalan Lake (Highland, IL); twelve grandchildren; her brother, Mike Henderson (Robinson, IL); her sisters & brothers-in-law, Lea & Stan Reno (Robinson, IL) and Stephanie & Darrin Boyd (Indianapolis, IN); her niece, Christina Moler; her nephew & his wife, Billy & Stephanie Carter; as well as several great-nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by her nephew, Jerry "Bubba" Carter.

Kathy is to be cremated, with graveside services to be held at 1:30pm on October 8th at the Kirk Cemetery. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements. In honor of her love of animals, memorials may be made to the "Crawford County Humane Society", with envelopes available at the funeral home.
