Kathleen "Kathy" Watts

October 22, 1945 — November 20, 2021

Kathleen "Kathy" Watts, 76, of Marshall, IL, formerly of Robinson, IL, died November 20, 2021, in the comfort of her home. She was born October 22, 1945, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Edward & Irene (Wisniewski) Lester. She grew up in the Chicagoland area, where she cultivated a deeply-embedded faith that she would cling to for the rest of her life. In fact, at the age of 18, she was considering becoming a nun, that is, until she met Ken Watts at a bowling alley one weekend. Four months later, on July 18, 1964, they were married and have been nearly inseparable since. Kathy worked many odd jobs throughout her life and was also a secretary for a number of businesses, including Market Innovators and Prince Castle, where she served as the secretary for the company's vice-president. In 1993, they moved to the Robinson area where Ken would work as the police chief and Kathy as the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church secretary. Their offices were so close they could walkie-talkie back and forth! She loved her role at the church and was vital to its daily functioning. Over the course of her 16 years there, she served with skill, grace, and charity. She was abundantly generous and consistently gave of her time, energies, and finances without thought of herself. In this way, she glorified her Heavenly Father. It was evident that faith played a central role in her life. Every morning would find her in her book of prayer. In addition to her role as secretary, she also became a Eucharistic Minister for St. Elizabeth's. Throughout the Watts' extensive traveling, the first order of business was always to find the nearest Catholic church! All in all, she and Ken visited 46 of America's 50 states, including Hawaii, where they vacationed after she retired in 2011. In addition to travel, she also held a penchant for games. She spent countless hours watching the Game Show Network, and few things brought more life to her living than playing cards, Yahtzee, or Sequence with those she loved most in this world. Family meant everything to Kathy. She was a devoted wife, a caring mother, a proud grandmother, and a doting great-grandmother and poured so much of herself into each of these roles. Their interests were her interests, and she always looked for opportunities to share fun and meaningful experiences with each of them. In short, she loved each of them wholeheartedly. This same love will live on as her legacy until, by the grace of God, we see her again. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ken Watts; by her daughter & son-in-law, Debbie & Jeff Mrozinski; by her son & partner, Kenny Watts & Crissy Brummett; by her granddaughter & husband, Sarah & Erik Loster; by her great-grandson, Hunter Loster; by her siblings, Diane Paul and Michele Lester; as well as several nieces and nephews. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 23rd, at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 24th at the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Robinson, with Fathers Suresh Sambaturu & Rick Weltin officiating. Burial will be in the Tohill Cemetery, rural Flat Rock. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity or organization of the donor's choice, with envelopes available at the funeral home and church.
