Jose Leonel Garcia

November 13, 1956 — October 8, 2024

Jose Leonel Garcia, 67, of Robinson, IL, passed away unexpectedly on October 8, 2024. Jose lived his life with laughter, love, and a deep connection to his heritage and family. Born on November 13, 1956, in Rosales, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Ramon Garcia & Ramona Garcia Gonzalez (both of whom preceded him in death), Jose spent his life making connections and memories across multiple places. He lived and worked in Cheyenne, WY, before settling in Greeley, CO, and eventually making Robinson his home for the past 8 years, where he was affectionately known by local friends as 'Cali-man.' Throughout his journey, Jose built a community around him that he deeply cherished.

He was the loving father of Marissa Munoz and Mariah Segovia, and the proud grandfather of Aubraeanna Munoz and Azaiah Munoz. He cared deeply for his family, supporting them not only financially but also emotionally—always calling to check in and giving heartfelt 'I love you's every chance he could.

Jose's days often found him at the library, and his love for the creative arts led him to discover new stories and melodies. He had a special affection for music and movies in Spanish, which connected him to his roots. His laugh was unforgettable, as was his unique way of mixing Spanish and English—his bilingual quirks often brought smiles and laughter to those around him.

He was a man of many loves: fishing with his family in Cheyenne, gardening and growing his own vegetables, and enjoying simple pleasures like making his way through the buffet line at Golden Corral. A true baseball fanatic, Jose cheered on the Rockies with unwavering enthusiasm. He also had a soft spot for animals, especially Bubba, his nephew Louie Andrade's dog, whom he treated as his own. Louie was more than just a nephew—he was Jose's companion and support, sharing a home and many meaningful moments together.

Known for his orneriness, his infectious laughter, and his loving heart, Jose was a presence that brought warmth and humor wherever he went. Though he is no longer with us, the memories he created and the laughter he inspired will continue to brighten our days, much like the vibrant life he lived.

He is to be cremated without a public service, and the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of these arrangements.
