John Henry Tracy, 80, of Chauncey, IL died at Cotillion Ridge Nursing Center in Robinson at 10:53 p.m., Tuesday, November 25, 2008. He was born April 4, 1928 in Flat Rock, the son of Arley Tracy and Mary Elizabeth York Tracy. He was a pipefitter, a member of Local Pipefitters Union # 157 of Terre Haute, IN. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in China at the end of World War II. He was a member of the Flat Rock American Legion Post # 132 and the Robinson VFW Post # 4549. He was a past member of the Flat Rock Masonic Lodge # 348. He married Rosella Waggoner Hensley on June 8, 1981 and she survives. He is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Richard 'Rick' and Greta Tracy, Flat Rock; two daughters and his son-in-law, Rebecca and Jim Earnest, Robinson, and Rita Higgins, Robinson; two step-sons and their spouses, Timothy 'T.J.' and Penny Hensley, Honakaa, Hawaii, and Kenneth and Stephanie Hensley, St. Amant, LA; one step-daughter and her husband, Cyndi and Randy Reynolds, Chauncey; six grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; his sister, Ruth Maddox, Palestine; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Ronald Tracy; three brothers, Clarence, Donovan, and LaVern Tracy; four sisters, Mable Shinkle, Stella King, Arlene Wright, and Helen Smith.Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 29 at 2:00 p.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock, with Pastor Burl Shinkle officiating. Burial will be in the Waggoner Cemetery, rural Crawford County. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 28. Donations are to donor’s organization of choice with envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
