John H. Nethery, 70 of Palestine, IL, died at 2:42 a.m. Sunday, September 05, 2010 at his home. He was born February 6, 1940 in Palestine, the son of Ralph Nethery and Ena Houser Nethery. John was a truck driver and diesel mechanic before retiring from Tussey Trucking in 2005. He attended the Oblong Wesleyan Church.John married Lylia Ann Dart on February 3, 1962, and she survives. He is also survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, John & Lynn Nethery, Palestine, Danny & Rita Nethery, Robinson, and Brian & Kristie Nethery, Palestine; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce & Rob Richards, Robinson, and DeEtta & John Newlin, Hutsonville; thirteen grandchildren, Amanda Cooper, Johnny Nethery, Sara Nethery, Josh Nethery, Dusty Nethery, Tanner Nethery, Brian J. L. Nethery, Alyssa Nethery, Raymond Richards, Emilee Richards, Allissen Richards, Sheldon Richards, Johnny Newlin; six great-grandchildren,Brynnen Nethery, Hannah Nethery, Preston Cooper, Walker Nethery, Monroe Nethery, Natalie Richards; two brothers, Wendell (Ralph) Nethery, Jacksonville, IL, and Bob Nethery, Oblong; as well as several nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Bill Nethery, Wayne Nethery & Warren Nethery; two sisters, Maryanna Eveland and Mildred Nethery; and a great-grandchild, Jenson Cooper.Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine, with Pastor Leonard Waller conducting the services. Burial will be in the Palestine Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
