John F. McKeighan, 86 of rural Robinson, IL, died at 1:10 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2008 at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson. He was born January 6, 1922 in Lawrenceville, the son of Jesse Walker McKeighan and Crystal Ruth Belcher McKeighan. He retired from Marathon Oil Co. in 1980 after over 30 years of service. He and his son, John started Petro Maintenance, and they worked together until 1985 when he retired. He was also a member of the Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church, where he taught the 'Mens Class' for over 50 years. He served in the U. S. Navy during WWII as a Boatsman’s Mate on the USS Sirus supply ship in the South Pacific.John married Beulah Mickey on December 4, 1943 and she survives. He is also survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, John B. and Rindy McKeighan, Robinson, Mickey D. and Kerry McKeighan, Carmel, IN; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Darla and Kenny Groteguth, Freelandville, IN, Sue and Kevin McConnell, Robinson; 14 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Bill, Tom, and Carter McKeighan; and 2 sisters, Margaret McGuire and Anna Litherland.Funeral services will be held Monday, April 14th at 10:30 a.m. at the Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Bill McCluskey in charge of services. Burial is in the Jones Cemetery, rural Flat Rock. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson, and until an hour preceding the service when there will be visitation at the church. Memorials may be made to the Crawford Memorial Hospital Foundation or to the Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church.
