Joan Winifred Lowery

Joan Winifred Lowrey, 71 of Robinson, IL died at 11:01 p.m. Friday, December 17, 2010 at St. Anthony Hospital in Effingham, IL after an extended illness. She was born February 25, 1939 in Akron, OH, the daughter of John Toney and Ruby Finch Toney. Joan was a homemaker and was a member of the Byzantine Catholic Church in Indianapolis, IN. She was a long time volunteer with the €œBrothers of Charity€ and had personally worked with Mother Teresa. She was a member of the 3rd Order of Franciscans and had worked for over 20 years with the mentally disabled.She married Ronald J. Lowery August 9, 1958 and he survives. She is also survived by 4 sons and her daughter-in-law, John and Terri Lowery, Moline; Mark Lowery, Springfield, MO, Marc Lowery, Robinson, and Matt Lowery, Robinson; her daughter, Laura Lowery, Robinson; 4 grandchildren; 2 great grand children; 2 brothers;1 sister; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Joseph Lowery.It was Joan€™s choice to be cremated without services. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson was in charge of the arrangements and cremation. The family requests that memorials be made to Catholic Charities, and be sent to the Goodwine Funeral Home, 303 E. Main St., Robinson, IL 62454.
