Jeffrey "Jeff" Shelby

Jeffrey "Jeff" Shelby, 60, of Robinson, IL, passed away on November 8, 2024, at Casey Health Care Center in Casey, IL. Born on April 7, 1964, in Robinson, IL, Jeff was the son of Bill Shelby & Rosemary (Estep) Speedy, both of whom have preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his son, Devin Shelby, and his stepfather, James Speedy.

Jeff graduated from Robinson High School in 1982 and spent much of his career working with his hands in jobs that reflected his hardworking spirit, including at County Line Cheese, Briggs Pottery, and Performance Pipe Fitters, before finishing his career at Veolia as a water blaster.

He is lovingly remembered by his life partner, Sandra LeGrand, by his daughter & son-in-law, Joni LeGrand & Cody Mendenhall; by his grandchildren, Alexa LeGrand, Maycee Decker, and Lillian Decker, as well as several cousins.

Jeff had an outgoing, loud, and jovial spirit that brought energy to every gathering. He found joy in simple pleasures: a game of darts or pool, a day at the river with family, or cooking up seafood on the 4th of July. He loved the freedom of the open road, often riding his Harley with Sandra by his side. Whether fishing, camping, target shooting, or watching NASCAR-especially his hero Dale Earnhardt-or rooting for the Bears and Cubs, he lived each moment fully and surrounded by the people and things he loved.

Jeff was a member of the Moose Lodge, the Flat Rock American Legion #132, and ABATE of Illinois. His love of life and his laughter will be missed by all who knew him.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 15th, at 3:00 p.m. at Hardinville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to "Goodwine Funeral Home".
