Jean Gillaspy

Jean Gillaspy, 84, of Robinson, IL, died at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2009 at Ridgeview Care Center, Oblong, IL. She was born October 17, 1924 in rural Robinson, IL, the daughter of John Meek, Sr. and Rachael Lowrance Meek. She retired from Victor Dana after 24 years of service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Robinson.Jean married Floyd Herbert Gillaspy on May 29, 1943 and he preceded her in death in 1979. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Patricia Ellen Hart; her son, Herbert Gillaspy; 4 brothers, John Jr., Clarence, Bob and David Meek; and 3 sisters, Mary LaMonte, Marilyn Meek and Winfred Lacey; and her half brother, Earl Smalling.Jean is survived by 3 daughters and her sons-in-law, Delores J. Randles, Sandpoint, ID, Sandra and Pete Azevedo, Roseville, CA; Carolyn and Dick Evans, Modesto, CA; 2 sons and her daughter-in-law, Floyd Eugene “Butch” and Elsie Gillaspy, Modesto, CA, and Mark Gillaspy, Kissammee, FL; 18 grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren; 5 sisters and brothers-in-law, Nina and Dale Martin, Robinson, Barbara and Harold Karner, Arroyo Grande, CA, Jeannette Elliott, Robinson, Betty and Tom Stiles, Martinsville, IN, Ruth and Rex Anderson, Kingsman, IN; her brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Mary Jane Meek, Robinson; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson with Pastor Don Houdasheldt officiating. Burial will be in the Mound Cemetery, rural Jasper County, IL. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday preceding the services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Lincolnland Hospice with envelopes available at the funeral home.
