Jannitte "Janet" Haynes

Jannitte "Janet" Haynes, 81, formerly of Robinson, IL, passed away at Wabash General Hospital in Mt. Carmel, IL, on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. She was born in Herbert, KY, on July 9, 1941, the daughter of John & Grace Haynes, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sister Norma Hawley; her brother, Bud Haynes; as well as her niece, Diana Walters Gillespie.

She is survived by her nieces, Debbie Walters Smith (Steve), Doris Dremstedt (Mark), Donna Dayton (Keith), and Darla Walters. She is also survived by several great-nieces and nephews.

For a time, Janet lived south of Robinson, where she took in a number of cats, treating them to a steady diet of delicious cream. Eventually, she moved into Miller Innovative Care and was also cared for by the staffs of the United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville and Oakview Nursing & Rehabilitation in Mount Carmel. They could all speak to Janet's social nature, as she was known to walk the halls looking to strike up a conversation. She was also a well-known enthusiast of Bingo, a game that awarded her with many stuffed animals and bottles of her beloved Pepsi. Time in her room often found her working on word search puzzles, and these brought countless hours of entertainment and satisfaction to the twilight years of her life.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, she was a longtime member of the Duncanville Missionary Baptist Church. She also worshipped her Heavenly Father by playing hymns on the piano. We find both comfort and joy knowing that she's at home with her Lord, bowing in humble adoration, proclaiming, "My God, how great thou art!"

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 11th, at the Robinson New Cemetery, with Celebrant Curt Goodwine officiating the service. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the "Duncanville Missionary Baptist Church", with envelopes available at the cemetery. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
