Janice Sheppard Buchanan

Janice Sheppard Buchanan, 86 of Robinson, died at 2:20 a.m., on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Heritage Health Care Center, Robinson. She was born April 11, 1927 in Canyon City, CO, the daughter of Percival Sheppard and Edith Kendrick Sheppard. She received a bachelor€™s degree from the University of Colorado and a degree in Funeral Service from Vincennes University. Following her husband€™s death and graduation from Vincennes University, she was licensed as an embalmer-funeral director and she owned and operated the Buchanan Funeral Home in Robinson and Newton.She was a member of AAUW, Twentieth Century Club, Robinson Academic Foundation, LTC Foundation and the Robinson First Presbyterian Church. Janice married James A. Buchanan on July 27, 1949, and he preceded her in death in June 23, 1982. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her brother Jack Sheppard; 2 granddaughters, Rachael & Jennifer; and her daughter-in-law, Mindy. Janice is survived by her children, Dortha Turner, Tucson, AZ, Kevin and Carla Buchanan, Denver, CO, Philip Buchanan, Davenport, FL, Ben and Lori Buchanan, Robinson, Bruce Buchanan and Joy Parks, Robinson, Tom and Kyrah Buchanan, Robinson, and Paul and Alesia Buchanan, San Diego, CA, 16 grandchildren; Katherine Turner, Katrina Buchanan, Scott Buchanan, Christopher Buchanan, Justin Buchanan, James Buchanan, Bradley Buchanan, Daniel Brown, Nicole Buchanan, Brennan Buchanan, Madison Buchanan, Kaden Buchanan, Lillie Buchanan, Olivia Buchanan, Libby Goad, Angela Rodgers, 4 great grandchildren Clayton Buchanan, Owen, Tyden and Noah Goad; and her brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Frances Sheppard, Houston, TX.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 8, 2013 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson with her son, Tom Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow in the Robinson New Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday evening.
