Janice C. Stephens

Jan Stephens, 72, of Robinson, IL, died at 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Heritage Health in Robinson. She was born February 5, 1947 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Walter Nelson & Fern (Jandt) Nelson, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Russell Nelson; and her mother-in-law, Ruth Stephens. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Mark & Treena Stephens (Robinson, IL), Doug & Will Blount-Stephens (Springfield, IL), and Cari & Tom Buehnerkemper (Teutopolis, IL); by her grandchildren, Braden Stephens, Collin Johnson, Kaitlyn Stephens, Isaac Blount-Stephens, Jack Buehnerkemper, and Nicholas Buehnerkemper; by her sister-in-law, Ann Nelson (Canada); by her nephew and niece, Shawn Nelson and Shawnda Nelson; by her special friends, Carol & Harry Smith; as well as several beloved members of the Stephens family who have loved and supported her over the years. Jan Stephens was, by all accounts, an outgoing soul who didn’t know a stranger. She had a way about her that made you feel welcome and at home. She loved her family with all of her being. Years ago, Jan and her children went on countless adventures, and these were some of the best times of her life. As she grew older, her grandchildren became a source of joy and light as her health started to fade. The love Jan selflessly gave to her family continues to live on in their hearts, and it always will. A time of visitation will be held from 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 17th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will follow and will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home with Rev. Jay Regennitter officiating. Family and friends are encouraged to wear Jan’s favorite color, purple, in memory of her. Memorials may be made to either “Heritage Health” or to the “Crawford Memorial Foundation”, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
