Jane Elliott, 80, of Robinson, IL, passed away March 17, 2022, at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville, IN. She was born February 25, 1942, in Robinson, the daughter of Earnest E. & Mary (Hughes) Pulley. Jane grew up in Robinson and was a 1960 graduate of RHS. Soon after, she took the train up to Minneapolis, MN, where she enrolled in a medical lab technician program before moving down to Champaign, IL, where she was involved in rabies research on mice at Carle Hospital. She married Dr. Michael Elliott on June 30, 1962, and would spend much of the rest of her life as a homemaker.
In addition to their four children, their house was also home to countless animals, from sheep and goats to critters like rabbits and raccoons! No matter what other creatures they had, Jane always had a dog she could call her own. "Mother Nature" (as she was affectionately known) was constantly working outdoors. In addition to tending to animals, she could often be found working in her flower bed or mowing her lawn using her John Deere tractor mower (which was to be blown off and cleaned after every mowing session.)
A sports fan, she was quietly instrumental in getting the Robinson Junior Football League up and running. However, she wasn't just behind the scenes, as she was a familiar face behind the concession stand register for many games! Though she enjoyed Robinson sports in general, watching her grandchildren play brought life to her living. After all, she loved her family completely. Though she could be more than a little headstrong at times, she proved time and again that her heart was even stronger. We are thankful for Jane Elliott's life; a life lived her way!
She is survived by her children & their spouses, Beth & John Santo (Landrum, SC), Amy Goodwin (Robinson, IL), Dr. Michael (II) & Angie Elliott (Robinson, IL), and Matt Elliott (Robinson, IL); by her grandchildren, Christopher Santo, Allison Hickey, Taylor Goodwin, Meredith Santo, John Santo III, Michael Elliott III, Justin Goodwin, Wyatt Elliott, Mary Alice Elliott, and Gracen Elliott; by her sister, Linda Thill (Jacksonville, FL); and by a number of nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest & Mary Pulley; her father-in-law, Gracen Elliott; her mother-in-law, Lois & husband Bob McConnell; her sister, Joan Mathias; her husband of nearly 44 years, Dr. Michael Elliott; and their son, Jeffery Wayne Elliott, who passed in infancy.
