James M. Pinkstaff, 41, of Urbana, IL, died at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2018 in Urbana, IL. He was born April 23, 1977 in Robinson, the son of Carl Pinkstaff & Shirley (Kelly) Pinkstaff. He grew up in the Robinson area and was a 1995 graduate of Robinson High School. He furthered his education at the University of Illinois and was a 2002 graduate of its School of Law. He worked as a lawyer in the Chicagoland area for several years before starting his own practice in 2015. Outside of the office, he studied Taekwondo and Jiu Jitsu and even had a sparring mat on top of the apartment building he owned. San Diego, CA was a home away from home for him and he enjoyed surfing out on the Pacific waves. Friends and family will long remember a driven and focused soul whose intelligence was only outshined by his determination in all things. He is survived by his mother, Shirley Pinkstaff (Robinson, IL); by his sisters, Kelly Akerboom (O’Fallon, IL), Marcy & Tyler Lowrance (Robinson, IL), and Penny Reinoehl (Charleston, IL), and Elizabeth Chiodini (Palestine, IL); as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Pinkstaff and by his grandparents, Lawrence Pinkstaff, Esther Dickey, Kenneth Kelly, and Verna Kelly. Private family services will be held with the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Robinson Food Pantry. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
