James L. Dollahan, 76, of Oakland City, IN, formerly of Robinson, IL, died January 15, 2021, at Deaconess Gibson Hospital in Princeton, IN. He was born February 23, 1944, in Palestine, IL, the son of John Robert “Bob” Dollahan & Iris (Biggs) Dollahan, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Clara "Claire" (Whitman) Dollahan, and by his brother, Charles Robert “Bob” Dollahan, Sr. He is survived by his four sons, Jim & Sandy Dollahan (Westfield, IL), Jeremy & Missy Dollahan (Hutsonville, IL), Jason & Jamie Dollahan (Maysville, NC), and Justin & Connie Dollahan (Robinson, IL); by 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; by his brother, Harry Wayne & Linda Dollahan (GA); as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Jim grew up in Robinson and was a 1961 graduate of Robinson High School. Much of his life found him on the road, having spent 45 years as a truck driver before retiring in 2006, but not before earning the respect of countless co-workers who admired the quality of effort he put into his career. Time at home often found him tinkering in his shop, but he also enjoyed watching old television shows and reading Westerns, especially as he entered the twilight years of his life. Now that his life's journey is ended, we can see that he found victory, not at some high point along the way, but in having made the journey itself, mile after precious mile. Due to the increased public safety measures being enforced by the State of Illinois, funeral services will be private. Jim will be laid to rest in the Robinson New Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the "Robinson Lions Club". Checks may be mailed to: Goodwine Funeral Home 303 E Main St Robinson, IL 62454 The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
