James "J.D." Cafin, Jr.

James “J.D.” Cafin, Jr, 45, of Sumner, IL died at 10:34 a.m. on Friday, November 23, 2018 at the Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, IN. He was born August 21, 1973 in Olney, IL the son of Jim Cafin, Sr. & Linda (Hayes) Cafin. His father preceded him in death. He married Jessica Pegg on March 15, 1993, and she survives. He is also survived by his sons, Jesse Cafin and Wyatt Cafin; by his mother, Linda Cafin (Sumner, IL); by his sisters, Christine Greene (Lawrenceville, IL) and Misty Christopher (Sumner, IL); as well as several nieces and nephews. J.D. grew up in the Palestine/Hutsonville area and would work in the oilfields for a time, but driving a truck was his life for 20 years. He truly enjoyed his time behind the wheel and the freedom it brought him. Off the road, he’d often be found rooting for his beloved Chicago Bears or watching a dirt-track race. Family was everything to J.D. and few things brought him more enjoyment than spending time with them, be that at a bonfire or singing karaoke! He was a hard-headed character, for sure, but he would do anything for those he loved. A time of visitation will be held from 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 1st at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Memorial donations may be made to his memorial fund, with checks made payable to “Goodwine Funeral Homes”.
