James Everett Brackett

July 13, 1951 — November 4, 2020

James Everett Brackett, 69, of Niantic, IL, died November 4, 2020, at VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville, IL. He was born July 13, 1951, in Decatur, IL, the son of Curtis Everett Brackett & Doris (Carr) Brackett, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Joan Brackett, Mary Stamm, and Beverly Smith; and by his brother, Leonard Brackett. He is survived by his sisters, Betty Brackett-Tipsword and Judy Brackett; by his brothers, Kenneth Brackett and Charles Brackett; as well as several nieces and nephews. Jim grew up in Niantic before proudly serving his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1970-1973. This period of his life found him all over the Pacific, including the Philippines, (where he served from 1970-1972), and Thailand (where he was stationed before being discharged in 1973). From a young age, photography was a passion of Jim's, and one that was used throughout the course of his service. As time went by, he became more and more enamored with computers, and this provided him with countless hours of entertainment in his later years. Though he tended to keep to himself, Jim was very, very close to those he considered "friends". They could never forget his quiet wit, nor the bravery he displayed day-in and day-out. A private family graveside will be held at Long Point Cemetery in Niantic, IL, at a later date. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
