James Edward "Buck" Houk

James Edward 'Buck' Houk, 95, of West Lafayette, IN, died at 1:15 p.m. (E.S.T.) Thursday, November 27, 2008 at Indiana Veterans Hospital. He was born March 8, 1913 in Vincennes, IN, the son of William C. Houk and Maude Elkins Houk. He worked for the City Street Department, Vincennes, IN. He was a member of the Vincennes V. F. W. Post #1157, Vincennes American Legion Post #73, Vincennes 40 & 8, Marching Band Cooties, Vincennes Elk Lodge #291, and Vincennes Moose Lodge #1568.He is survived by his 3 daughters, Lois Miller, Silver Springs, FL, Melody Hudson, Chattanooga, TN, Rita Shaw, Santa Monica, CA;his half brother,Bill Hood, Rockford, IL; and his half sister, Melody Ellis, AZ.Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 30, 2008 at Pleasant View Cemetery, rural Palestine, IL. The Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine is in charge of arrangements. Military graveside services will be conducted by the combined units of the Palestine AmVets Post #33, Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, Robinson American Legion Post #69, and Flat Rock American Legion Post #132.
