Jack L. Daron, 74, was surrounded by family as he passed peacefully on Friday, June 16, 2017. Jack started his life with his twin brother, Steve, in Robinson, IL on September 5, 1942. He grew up in Robinson and graduated from Robinson High School in 1960. Soon after, he left for Greenville College (Greenville, NC), before graduating from Eastern Illinois University (Charleston, IL). While attending college, he met, and later married the love of his life, Sue (Thompson) Daron on February 28, 1965. Jack and Sue started their family in Charleston and Robinson, and later moved to Lutcher, LA in 1977. They relocated back to the Midwest, to Brownsburg, IN in 1989, where Jack soon retired as a chemist/lab supervisor from Marathon Oil after 25 years. Jack was a member of the Model T Ford Club of America, and was a Past President of the Indy 500 chapter. All who knew him knew of his love of the Model T. He spent a lifetime hunting for, repairing, and restoring his cars. You could usually find him in his barn, sandblasting a part, cutting wood, or smoking his pipe. He was preceded in death by his mother, Fae and by his father, Forrest. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, Jack is survived by his wife, Sue and their three sons & daughters-in-law, Michael & Tina Daron (Williamsburg, VA), Scott Daron (Crawfordsville, IN), and Jeff & Michelle Daron (Westfield, IN); by his eleven grandchildren, Jonathan, Clair, Catherine, Alex, Elizabeth, Anastasia, Emily, Mary, Helen, Patrick, and Nicholas; by two great-granddaughters, Annabella and Jazzimae; by his brother & sister-in-law, Steve & Susan Daron (Carterville, IL); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. From the family: a special thank you to all of our friends and extended family for all of their love and support. We cherish the moments we’ve had, the memories we keep, and the constant reminders of how he touched our lives. He will be deeply missed. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 23rd at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 24th at the funeral home with Celebrant Curt Goodwine officiating the service. Burial will follow in the Robinson New Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
