Jack Edward Grimes, 82 of Hutsonville, IL, died at 6:28 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 2010 at his home after an extended illness. He was born February 29, 1928 in Sullivan County, IN, the son of Felix and Gertrude Walters Grimes. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII and was a member of the Robinson American Legion Post #69 for 27 years. He and his wife, Pauline, were self employed in the antique business, hauling antiques to Texas, Arizona, and California. He loved fishing with his children and his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Pearl Hudson Grimes; his daughter, Jackie Ann; son, James Grimes; his brother, Felix €œBlackie€ Grimes; and his sister, Ella Messoto. He had married his second wife and partner, Pauline Slavens December 5, 1951 and she preceded him in death on March 16, 2006.He is survived by his brother, Bill Grimes, Terre Haute, IN; his sister, Nora Pennington, Ohio; his children and their spouses, Mike and Paula Grimes, Knox, IN, Bryon Steadman, OK, Sherry Reynolds, Terre Haute, IN, Jack and Starr Grimes, Palestine, Paul Grimes, Palestine; Ella and Frank Harkrader, Sumner, Alice Cheesman, Hutsonville, and Julia and Les Tingley, Hutsonville; 20 grandchildren; and 43 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, special friend and his wife, Jim and Martha Hudson, Terre Haute, IN; his fishing buddy, fellow auction enthusiast, and grandson, Jack Edward Grimes Tingley, Hutsonville. Graveside services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 17th at the Hutsonville Cemetery, Hutsonville, IL. Brother Joe Griffith is in charge of services. There will be no visitation.
