Iris Dispennett Claxton

Iris DisPennett Claxton, 78 of rural Flat Rock, IL, died at 2:05 a.m. (e.s.t.) Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, IN. She was born November 15, 1931 in rural Kentucky, the daughter of Vernon Foster and Bertha Kelly Foster. She was a homemaker and a CNA at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, IL for 14 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of the Brownstown First Baptist Church.She married Ralph DisPennett in 1951 and he preceded her in death in 1982. She then married James Claxton in 1985 and he preceded her in death in 2008. She was also preceded by her parents; 3 sisters, Katherine Starks, Rosemary Claxton and Imogene Jameson; and her brother, Charles Foster.Survivors include her two sons and daughter-in-law, Ralph DisPennett Jr., Salem, OR and Michael and Kelly DisPennett, Oblong; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Debi and Olen Evans, Brownstown, Joni and Charles Rich, rural Robinson, Patty and Steve Mitchell, Palestine; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; her 2 brothers and sister-in-law, James and Pearl Foster, Terre Haute, IN and Dennis Foster, Terre Haute; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 26th at the South Union Church in rural Flat Rock. Visitation will be Monday, October 25th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church. Dr. Olen Evans and Brother Jack Cunningham are in charge of services. Burial is in the Hardinville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Davita Dialysis Unit at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson or to the Crawford County Humane Society with envelopes at the church. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock is in charge of services.
