Irene Mccormick

Irene McCormick, 87, of Palestine, IL, died on August 3, 2020, at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, IL. She was born February 9, 1933, in Robinson, the daughter of Arthur & Violet Ann (Dunlap) Harris, both of whom preceded her in death. She married William "Bill" McCormick on January 19, 1952, and he preceded her in death on June 25, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her son, Mark McCormick. She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Martin Lee & Carmen McCormick; by her grandsons, Steven Thomas McCormick, William Earl Lee McCormick, and Benjamin Jacob McCormick; by her granddaughters, Madison Taylor and Paige McCormick; by several great-grandchildren; and by her special friend, Ramona Knoblett. Irene worked as a nurse's aid before finding employment with Fair Rite, where she worked for many years. She was also a staple at Casey's in Palestine, where her culinary skills were put on display in the kitchen. Time at home often found her diligently working puzzles or drawing, that is, when she wasn't watching her soaps! Anyone who knew her could attest to the love she had for her four-legged fur baby, Rowdy, and for her family, especially her husband of 62 years, Bill. Those who are left behind will remember with fondness her outspoken, yet considerate nature. Though she is gone from our sight, we will never forget her. A time of visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. PLEASE NOTE THAT COVID-19 GUIDELINES WILL BE OBSERVED. SOCIAL DISTANCING MEASURES WILL BE IN PLACE, AND IT IS REQUESTED THAT ALL ATTENDEES WEAR FACE COVERINGS. A graveside service will follow the visitation and will be held at the Oak Grove Cemetery, with Pastor Paul Gray officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the “Pilgrim Holiness Church”, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
