Ira Francis Cooper, Sr., 83 of Marshall, IL died at 12:30 a.m. Friday June 17, 2011 at his residence. He was born March 27, 1928 in Broadlands, IL, the son of Coy Harold Cooper and Mable White Cooper. He served in the U. S. Navy during WWII in the South Pacific. He retired as an operator/boiler fireman for Velsicol Chemical Company after 37 years of service. He was a barber in Marshall. He was commander and member of the Marshall American Legion Post #90 and was a member of the Marshall V. F. W. Post # 5975.Ira married Eudean Ruth Malone and she preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents; twin brothers, Coy and Roy Cooper and a brother, Harold Cooper.He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Malinda and Jerry Norton, Fairfax, VA; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Ira F. and Elaine Cooper, Jr., Columbia, SC, Stephen (Doug) and Nancy Cooper, Huntsville, AL; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; his sister and brother-in-law, Stella May and Barnard Malott, Peoria; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 20, 2011 at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, rural Annapolis, IL (from Annapolis, IL go south on 700N and turn West on 1750th). The Prust-Hosch Funeral Home, West Union is in charge of the arrangements.
