Ira €œDean€ Guyer, 88, of Robinson, IL, died at 6:00 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2011 at the Ridgeview Care Center, Oblong, IL. Born September 6, 1923 in the Quaker Lane vicinity east of Annapolis, he was the son of Ira Guyer & Alice Guyer. He was employed by Marathon Oil Company for 35 years and retired January 1, 1984 as Products Distribution Supervisor. Dean served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the Robinson First United Methodist Church, the E.M. Coulter Post #69 Robinson American Legion, he was a charter member of the Oak Glen Golf Course, which he helped build, and a past member of the B.P.O. Elks 1188 in Robinson.On April 7, 1946, Dean married Ada €œRosalee€ Hendrix, and she preceded him in death on December 7, 2006. He was also preceded in death by his parents.He is survived by his two daughters, Dennette Lee Guyer (Vandalia, IL) and Cheryl Lynn Guyer (Hopkinsville, KY); his son and daughter-in-law, Michael Dean and Beth Guyer (Chula Vista, CA); three grandchildren; Karen & Warren Withrow (Fayetteville, NC), David & Michelle Guyer (Alhambra, CA), and Kevin & Katie Guyer (San Dimas, CA); two great-granddaughters, Naomi and Mara Withrow; his sister, Ruth Spires (Clinton, IN); his sister-in-law, Imogene Graff (Gibson City, IL); two brothers-in-law, Wayne Hendrix (Marshall, IL) and William Challis (Bloomington, IL); as well as several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson with Rev. Tiffany Black officiating. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Memorials may be made to the Robinson First United Methodist Church, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
