Imogene Ziegler, 82, of Oblong, IL, died Monday, December 16, 2019, at her home in Oblong, IL. She was born October 6, 1937, in Robinson, IL, the daughter of William Tennyson & Bessie Lorene Tennyson-Postlewait, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard Ziegler; by her brother, Wayne Tennyson; and by her step-father, Earl "Huff" Postlewait. She is survived by her children & their spouses, Howard & June Ziegler, Rick & Barbara Ziegler, and Debbie & David King; by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Imogene grew up in Crawford County and would go on to work for both the Ettelbrick Shoe Company and later, Robinson Transformer. Though she was a dedicated employee, her best work was done at home. She was, by all accounts, good with her hands, and they were often found tending to her garden. She had one every year, and grew countless vegetables and flowers over the course of her lifetime. Her flowers were, in particular, a great source of both beauty and joy in her life, as were the numerous dolls she enjoyed collecting. More than any of this, she loved her family. Though they lived a considerable distance away from home, she always asked them for pictures and adorned her house with images of those who she loved the most. They will remember their mother and grandmother as a sweet soul who lavished them with kindness and love, and this will serve as her legacy for as long as they live. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, December 20th at the Palestine Cemetery, with Celebrant Curt Goodwine officiating the service. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine is in charge of arrangements. In memory of her love of animals, memorial contributions may be made to the Crawford County Humane Society, with envelopes available at the cemetery.
