Imogene Drum

Imogene Drum, 95, of Marshall, IL, died November 17, 2020, at Marshall Rehabilitation and Nursing. She was born September 23, 1925, in Hornersville, MO, the daughter of John & Zella (Meredith) Cummings, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Vernon Olen Drum on September 22, 1944, and he preceded her in death on January 10, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her son, Vernon Kent Drum; by her brother, John L. Cummings; by her sisters, Bonnie Self, Kathryn Bolding, Zella May Beaman, and Murlene Ashlock; and by her granddaughter, Michelle Midget. She is survived by her son, Ronald Drum (Martinsville, IL); by her daughter & son-in-law, Sandra & James Feltt (Vincennes, IN); by her grandchildren & their spouses, Ronald & Debbie Hills, Ronnie & Mary Drum, Donnie & Amy Drum, Kim Kellams, Julia & Derick Payne, and Danielle Drum; by a host of great-grandchildren; by her sisters, Dorothy Osborn, Juanita Winslow, Patricia & Jerry Milligan; as well as several nieces and nephews. Imogene Drum was, in short, a selfless, giving soul. Upon losing her mother at the tender age of 12, she took it upon herself to provide for her family and would continue to do so for most of her 95 years. In Marshall, she worked at TRW for 20 years before finding employment at Victor Dana, where she retired after working another 20 years. Retirement didn't suit her, however, and she once again found herself in the workforce, this time at Burnsides Nursing Home in Marshall, where she worked as a nurse's aide for a number of years. Time at home often found her in her garden, tending to her flowers, or cooking up a delicious meal for her beloved family. They could attest to the fact that music played an integral part of Imogene's life. Her voice was heard nearly every Sunday at the West Union Baptist Church, where she was a longtime and active member. Even as she aged and found herself as a resident at the same nursing home she worked at years before, she was known to blast some of her favorite songs! We who are left behind are thankful for the life of Imogene Drum; a life that, by the grace of her beloved Savior, will never end. Due to the newly-increased public safety measures being enforced by the State of Illinois, there will not be a public visitation, nor will there be an in-person service. However, Imogene's family would like to invite you to view the live stream of her service at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 20th.
