HUBERT TAYLOR PARKERHubert Taylor Parker, 87, of Robinson, IL, died at the home of his daughters in Dallas, TX, Sunday, August 16, 2009. He was born October 24, 1921, in Flat Rock, IL, the son of Chester L. Parker and Bessie Jane Taylor Parker. Hubert retired from L. S. Heath and Sons in 1984 after 37 years of service. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII, member of the Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, and the Robinson American Legion Post #69. He received the Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 1 Silver Battle Star, Bronze Service Arrowhead, 3 Overseas Service Bars, and 1 Service Stripe Good Conduct Medal. He was also a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Robinson.Hubert married Doreen Marie Hout January 31, 1948 and she survives. He is also survived by his two daughters, Diana Parker Weitzel, and Tammy Parker McNabb, both of Dallas, TX; 3 grandchildren, Adrienne Weitzel, Dallas, Tannis Rich, Burleson, TX, Cameron McNabb, Burleson, TX; 12 great grandchildren; his two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gene and Shirley Parker, Robinson and Dannie and Carolyn Parker, Hendersonville, TN; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Gale Parker and Gilbert Parker; and 2 sisters, Laura Bell Tuttle and Eloise Parker.Funeral services will be Monday, August 24th at 10:30 a.m. at the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Robinson. Brother Maurice Midgley, O. S. L., and Jerry Parker are in charge of services. Burial is in Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Palestine. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday August 23rd at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson and 1 hour preceding the service at the Church on Monday. Military graveside honors will be presented at the cemetery by the combined units of the Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, the Robinson American Legion Post #69, the Flat Rock American Legion Post #132, and the Amvets Post #33. Memorials may be made to the Otterbein United Methodist Church with envelopes at the funeral home.
