Hester Mae Thompson, 89, of Robinson, IL, died at 5:00 a.m. Sunday, March 9, 2008 at the Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson. She was born February 13, 1919 in Dugger, IN, the daughter of Daniel Leigh and Jennie Wonders Leigh. She was a cook at the Sugar Bowl from 1950 until it closed and then worked at Gallo’s as a baker, and was a member of the Robinson American Legion Post #69 Auxiliary.She married Thomas Thompson December 1933 and he preceded her in death in 1966. She was also preceded in death by her son, Donald Thompson; 2 daughters, Betty Tipton and Virginia Gangloff; 1 brother and 4 sisters.She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Steve Bailey, Flat Rock; 14 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Charles Leigh, Dugger, IN and Jerry Leigh, Linton; her sister, Norma Smith, Marion, IN; and several nieces and nephews.Public graveside services will be held at 11:00 Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at the Robinson New Cemetery, Robinson with Rev. Glen Rosborough officiating. The Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Oblong Christian Children’s Home with envelopes available at the funeral home.
