Herschel "Bub" Noblit

Herschel E. “Bub” Noblit, 66, of Oblong, IL, died at 6:55 a.m. Friday, August 21, 2009 at his residence after an extended illness. He was born June 3, 1943 in Casey, IL, the son of Herschel Noblit and Marble Coleman Noblit. He was the caretaker and gravedigger at the Oblong Cemetery and several rural cemeteries in Crawford and Jasper County for a number of years. He was also the plant manager at Union Gas Co. in Topeka, KS. His hobbies included spending time with his children and grandchildren, playing cards and pool, spending time on his lawn mower, and working crossword books.He married Ramona Pimentel on May 15, 1965 and she survives. He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and David Stigler, Oblong; his 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Denny and Cindy Noblit, Oblong, Troy and Misty Noblit, Oblong; 7 grandchildren and their spouses, Amber Stigler, Oblong, Ashley Stigler Roy and her husband Cloudy Roy, Robinson, Amanda and Tyler Blessing, Robinson, Alaina Stigler, Oblong, Dustin Noblit, Oblong, Branden Noblit, Oblong, Dalton Noblit; 2 great grandchildren, Kyndal Roy and Lucas Blessing; and his sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Richard Wegner, Newton. Herschel’s in-laws include: sisters-in-law, Anna Dorn, Oblong and Alicia Hyde, Oblong; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Boomer and Ruth Ann Pimentel, Oblong, his brother-in-law, Bobby Master, Newton; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 25th at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson. Pastor Don Houdasheldt is in charge of services. Burial is in the Mound Cemetery, rural Jasper County. Visitation is from 11:00 a.m. Tuesday until service time at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Lincolnland Hospice with envelopes at the funeral home.
