Herbert A. Chapman, 91 of rural Marshall, IL, died at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the home of his daughter. He was born May 19, 1918 in Crawford County, IL, the son of Catlin Chapman and Maude Belle Nicholson Chapman. He was a farmer and served in the U. S. Army during WWII. He married Thelma G. Bandy August 8, 1946 and she preceded him in death in December of 1993. He was also preceded by his parents; 4 brothers, Gilbert, Delbert, Pete, and Delno Chapman; his 3 sisters, Hazel Hurst, March Snedeker, and Marie Hudson.Survivors include his children, Cary Chapman, Marshall; Karen and her husband Ernest Wallace, rural Martinsville; and Frank France, Addison, IL; 12 grandchildren, Lori Mannix, Terre Haute, IN, Cara and her husband Keith Akins, Texas, Amy Rust, Texas, Elizabeth Chapman, Scott Chapman, Trent and his wife Rita Wallace, Marshall, Erik Wallace, Annapolis, MD, Keith and his wife Dede Wallace, Martinsville, Erin Jayne, Terre Haute, IN, Frank Fsrance, Addison, Chuck France, Addison, and Cheryl Sellers, Elgin; 18 great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren. He is also survived by his 2 sisters, Bonnie White, Casey, and Muriel McIntire, Knightstown, IN; and several nieces and nephews.There will be a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 1st, with Brother Alex Walker officiating. Burial is in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery in rural Clark County. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Martinsville American Legion Post #515. There will be a reception and lunch at the Island Grove Baptist Church at noon prior to the graveside service on May 1st. The Prust-Hosch Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
