She was born on September 24, 1983 in Landstuhl, West Germany, the daughter of Jeff Shanes (Robinson, IL) and Loretta & Chuck Felkamp (Casey, IL), all of whom survive. She married Jacob Earle on September 24, 2008, and he survives. She is also survived by her son, Aaron Earle (Linton, IN);by her step-daughter, Taylan Earle (Linton, IN), by step-son, Tanner Earle (Linton, IN); by her brothers, Bryan Shanes (Robinson, IL) and Anthony Shanes (Robinson, IL); by her sisters, Tiffany Shanes (CA) and Jennifer Shanes (WA); by her step-sisters, Erin Emery (Springfield, IL) and Caryn Gilbert (Casey, IL); by her step-brother, Steven Felkamp (Casey, IL); as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and multiple cousins. Heather was a Certified Nursing Assistant, a job that most recently found her at Arbor Rose of Robinson. Away from work, she spent much of her time outdoors, and was particularly fond of fishing when her health would allow. At home, she could often be found fashioning an art or craft and was well-known for her scrapbooking. Though this was a great source of joy in her life, she loved spending time with her family even more. They will remember Heather as an easy-going soul who enjoyed the little things in life. Though she wasn’t immune from being a little stubborn at times, she was kind at heart, and this kindness will live on as her legacy in our hearts. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. (CST) on Wednesday, June 12th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 13th at the funeral home with Pastor Karen Russell officiating. Burial will be in the Palestine Cemetery. Memorials may be made to “JDRF”, leading the fight against type 1 diabetes (T1D) by funding research, advocating for policies that accelerate access to new therapies, and providing a support network for millions of people around the world impacted by T1D.
