Harry Parker Edgington

Harry Parker Edgington, 85, of Palestine, IL, died at 7:45 a.m. Thursday, July 8, 2010 at his residence. He was born January 22, 1925 in Heathsville, IL, the son of John Edgington and Irma Parker Edgington. He was a farmer and worked at Victor Dana for 26 years retiring in 1992. He served on the cemetery board of Pleasant View Cemetery, was a member of the Moose Lodge since 1949, a member of the local machinist union, and was a former member of the Palestine Eagles. He collected arrowheads, was the family historian, liked ballgames and visiting friends at the Village Inn.Harry married Marsha Blankenship on January 7, 1977 and she survives. He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Christa and Steven €œCub€ Inboden, Palestine; his grandson, Maxwell Parker Inboden, Palestine; his granddaughter, Audrey Rachel Inboden, Palestine; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Owen and Dorothy Edgington, Palestine, Virgil and Sara Edgington, Lawrenceville; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Wilmer Edgington; and 5 sisters, Pauline Burke, Mary Christine, Elanor Culp, Minnie Edgington, and Eula Everingham.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2010 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine with Brother Joe Griffith officiating. Burial will be at the Pleasant View Cemetery, rural Palestine. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Monday preceding the services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Good Samaritan Hospice with envelopes available at the funeral home.
