Harold F. Kent

Harold F. Kent, 86, of rural Oblong, IL, died at 6:10 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2009 at his residence. He was born May 24, 1922 in Flat Rock, the son of John F. Kent and Stella Postlewaite Kent. He worked for Emro Propane in Oblong for 47 years until it was sold to Ferrell Gas Co in Oblong. He served in Europe during WWII in the U. S. Army with General Patton. He was a member of the Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549 and the Robinson American Legion Post #69.He married Deloris Beard and she preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his parents; 3 sisters, Louise Preston, Dorothy Dunlap, and Estella Parker; his two brothers, Sam Kent and Jasper “Jake” Kent.He is survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at Tuesday, May 26th at 2:00 p.m. at Jones Cemetery, rural Flat Rock with Brother Charles Rains in charge. Visitation is from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the grave side at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock, IL.
