Harold D. Coulter

Harold D. Coulter, 77 of Oblong, IL, died at 7:38 p.m. Friday, August 6, 2010 at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, IL. He was born July 4, 1933 in Oblong, IL, the son of Lester Coulter and Lillie Rich Coulter. Harold worked in the oil fields for Marathon Production as a €œGang Pusher€ for 23 years, retiring in 1984. He served in the U. S. Army from 1953 to 1955 and was stationed in Germany. He was a member of the Oblong American Legion Post #219. He was also a member of the Crawford County Fair Board and was a member of the Oblong First Christian Church.He married Shirley Parker on January 14, 1953 and she survives. He is also survived by his mother, Lillie Coulter, Newton; his two sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Christy Coulter, Oblong and David and Andrea Coulter, Clinton, IN; 7 grandchildren, Stacey Inboden, Lawrenceville, Caina and her husband, Mike Wisdom, Oblong, Darin and his wife Stephanie Coulter, Hudson, IL, Cayla and her husband Aaron Myers, Effingham, Maude Coulter, Oblong, Lexy and Nate Coulter, Clinton, IN; 3 great grandchildren, Bryonna Myers, Cali Myers, and DaLynn Wisdom; his brother-in-law, Randall Shipman, Carlinville, and 2 nephews, and their spouses, Allen (Ronda) Gaddis, Robinson and Rick (Melinda) Gaddis, Katy, TXHarold was preceded in death by his father, by his great-grand daughter, Amada Marie Myers, and by his sister, Anna Lee Gaddis.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 10th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Harry Randolph is in charge of services. Burial is in the Prairie Methodist Cemetery, rural Oblong Township. Visitation is from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 9th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Oblong American Legion Post #219. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Oblong Academic Foundation with envelopes at the funeral home.
