Gwen Stone Jones

Gwen Stone Jones, 93, of Robinson, IL, died at 2:25 a.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at the United Methodist Village, Lawrenceville. She was born September 8, 1915 in St. Marie, IL, the daughter of John Mark Stone and Hazel Corine Jones Stone. Gwen worked at the original Hollywood dress shop, 17 years at the courthouse as an abstracter of titles for Crawford County Title, for Robinson Title and Realty, and Weber Abstracting Co. She also worked for 5 years for M & G Sporting Goods She was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ and later the Robinson Highland Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Robinson American Legion Post #69 Ladies Auxiliary.She married Don Davis May 25, 1934 and he preceded her in death on February 2, 1965. She married Glenn A. Jones on January 20, 1967 and he preceded her in death on September 25, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her son, Gene Stone Davis in infancy on April 22, 1942; her son, Don Mark Davis on January 12, 1982; her sister, Marjorie Stone; and her brother Mark Stone.Gwen is survived by 4 grandchildren, Andy Mark and his wife Karen Davis, Oblong, Taja Wheeler and her husband Todd, Hutsonville, Ryan Matthew Poehler, Portland, OR, and Lance Michael Poehler and his wife, Becky, Portland, OR; and 5 great grandchildren, Tacie Lee Davis, Colton Mark Davis, Kaley Dawn Davis, Takoda Alan Wheeler, Thane Davis Wheeler; her daughter-in-law and spouse, Elizabeth and Tom Cummins, West Palm Beach, FL and her two sister-in-law, Marion Davis,Idaho, and Bertha Jones, Robinson.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 30th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Pastor George Meese is in charge of services. Burial is in the Robinson New Cemetery.
